When a persistent newspaper reporter (Ron Hunter) suffers a heart attack, he finds himself pursuing a whole new cause--from his hospital bed. He enlists the help of his dedicated yet troubled cardiologist (Louis Gossett Jr) in taking on the hospital and it’s chief surgeon (E.G. Marshall). The issue of patient care is challenged at every turn, from medical decisions, to procedures, to the big business of medicine, proving that the health care debate has been raging for a long, long time. Originally shot as a 90-minute pilot, it became a short-running weekly series in the fall of 1979.
